Church Profile
After meeting in several different buildings in 1933, Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church was organized in April of 1934 and started meeting in the basement of a new building (still under construction) on our current property in July of 1951. Since then, our current building was erected by current members with the help of mission teams from other states and opened in late 2000.

We are a New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ, an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, currently associated with the Southern Baptist Convention and financially support their missionary efforts as well the State Convention of Baptist in Indiana and this church’s financial needs solely through the regular giving of tithes and offerings.

This church receives the Scriptures as its authority in matters of faith and practice. Its under-standing of Christian truth as contained therein is in essential accord with the belief of the Southern Baptist Churches as indicated in the Baptist Faith and Message (1963, revised 2000).

Currently, we have services every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening and somewhat often special services on different days and times. Since restarting after covid, our attendance varies from mid forties to upper 70s. Recent average has been 50s.

Vision Statement

Smyrna Missionary Baptist  Church aims to fulfill our mission by:
(1) Providing teaching and preaching in a variety of settings,
(2) Providing fellowship through activities, special trips, and a variety of special events,
(3) Providing accountability by personal contact, prayer for those in need, and self examination by the participation of the Lord’s Supper,
(4) Developing intimacy with God by encouraging devotion and “quiet time” with the Lord, as well as, distributing resources to help nurture a close walk with God,
(5) Reaching our community by invitation to a service, or verbal witness, that springs from a God honoring lifestyle, to family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers of the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.

Mission Statement

Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church exists for the purpose of:
Biblical teaching and preaching, the building of relationships, the accountability to God and brothers and sisters in Christ, and the developing of intimacy with God, with a view of reaching our world for Christ.

“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers… Praising God, and having favor with all the people.  And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” Acts 2:42,47
